Blog Stage 3: Why do we need the Wall?

Juliette Kayyem, a CNN national security analyst wrote an article trying to explain why there is no need for the "Trump Wall" that would separate the US from Mexico.  Kayyem states that the number of illegal immigration crossings have declined by 40% since the start of the year.  The 40% represent a significant decline in arrests that were made and number of people that were prevented from entering the country. Since there has been a decline in immigration then the administration is having going to have a tough time trying to convince the citizens that there is a need for the wall.  Kayyem goes on and explains why she believes there is a decline in immigration and some problems that it could cause in the US.
I agree with Kayyem, mainly because the US has become such a hateful place towards anyone that does fit the typical "american look".  Since people are becoming more hateful, no one is going to want to come to the US because they are scared of being judged or bullied by those who support President Trumps ideas.  If people are noticing that there is a decline in illegal immigration without having a wall, why should the US waste money that we do not have to protect people from something that is slowly "fixed" on its own.

  1. I agree with your position on the wall. At this point it seems like the wall has become more of a political jab at the public, than an actual mission aimed to be completed by the Trump administration. Citing your statistical evidence, as well as ethical , economic concerns, there are a litany of reasons that the wall shouldn't and probably wont be constructed, definitely not to completion.
